The Art of Being Retroactively Proactive

I just opened up an IRA account. My dad helped me out.

Me: This is great, opening a Roth IRA is on my Long Term Goal List for 2010.

Dad: Actually, because you are setting this up before you submit your taxes, it'll count for 2009.

Me: Awesome! That makes me retroactively proactive!
